What a great reception the Leader of Chichester District Council had on Thursday 2nd of June at the regular City Branch coffee morning. When Tony accepted our invitation to speak about his first year as leader Tony and I had thought that the June coffee morning would likely be a quiet affair due to a number of other key events happening in the City that week. How wrong we were! The Friends Meeting House in Priory Road was as full as could be! Tony, who is former Chairman of Chichester City Branch Conservatives was greeted with a very warm welcome by old and new members and friends. Our regular and very popular monthly 'Ask your Councillor' session prompted many topical questions, ably handled by our panel of local County, District and City Councillors. Tony's talk was hugely engaging and entertaining. He explained the challenges the District Council Cabinet faces on a weekly basis and outlined many of the achievements he and his Cabinet are very proud of. It was obvious that Tony enjoys his role enormously; by his energy and enthusiasm; and by the way he keenly answered every question posed. Sheila Walker who arranges our monthly programme of speakers was asked by several in the audience to book Tony again for next year so that he can tell us all about his achievements in his second year as Leader of CDC. Thank you Tony - from Les Hixson Chairman Conservative City Branch, and thank you from all the City Branch Committee.
